Six students qualified for the final stage of Ibdaa 2026, the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity organised by Mawhiba.

Meshary T, Imran T, Abdullah H, Yusuf G, Deema O and Rola O all progressed through a competitive national field to reach the final round of Ibdaa, one of Saudi Arabia’s principal platforms for student-led research across science and engineering disciplines.

In the overall competition results, Rola O was awarded 5th place in the Human Health category. Meshary T secured 4th place in Future Economies, and Imran T placed 4th in Sustainable Environment and Essential Needs Supply.

Several of the finalists also received external recognition. Rola O, working in Translational Medical Sciences, was recognised by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. Abdullah H, whose project focused on Environmental Engineering, received an award from the Yale Science and Engineering Association. Meshary T, in Biomedical Engineering, was recognised by ExxonMobil, while Imran T, working in Interdisciplinary Engineering, received recognition from Ricoh.

Ibdaa brings together students from across the Kingdom to present original research addressing real-world challenges. Projects are assessed across a range of scientific fields, with judging focused on both technical depth and practical relevance.

Reaching the final stage, alongside recognition from national and international organisations, reflects the standard of work produced by this year’s cohort.
