Misk Schools Students Win Best High School Delegation at Global Model UN Singapore

The Misk Schools delegation to Global Model United Nations Singapore returned with an outstanding collection of individual and team achievements, including awards recognising facilitation, diplomacy, research and committee leadership, alongside the title of Best High School Delegation.

Director General Dr Steffen Sommer met with the delegation following their return, to congratulate students on their achievements and recognise the preparation, collaboration and commitment behind their success.

Global Model United Nations is organised by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), a global non-profit organisation established in 1946 with Consultative Status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). WFUNA describes Global Model UN as the world’s most accurate simulation of the United Nations, with annual conferences held in New York, Geneva, Rome and Singapore.

Through the programme, students gain insight into how the United Nations operates while engaging with UN staff and other experts. They develop practical skills in negotiation, teamwork, diplomacy and consensus-building, working alongside students from across six continents.

“Winning Best High School Delegation is an exceptional achievement, but I was equally impressed by the individual awards and the range of skills our students demonstrated,” said Dr Steffen Sommer. “Global MUN asks students to listen carefully, negotiate intelligently and work towards consensus, often from very different starting points. These are valuable capabilities for young people preparing to contribute in an increasingly interconnected world.”
