Learning Beyond the Classroom in Austria

Twenty-six Grade 8 boys from Misk Schools have returned from a week of skiing in Wagrain, Austria, with a host of new skills and heightened self-confidence.

Supported by six staff members, the group spent five hours a day on the slopes and, for most students, it was their first time skiing or seeing snow. The trip offered more than just physical activity. Students developed their self-reliance while also building their ability to support and rely on each other while adapting to new routines and an unfamiliar experience.

For most of the boys, a week in Austria was their first time on skis and in the snow. With five hours of daily practice, they gained more than a new skill: they built confidence, patience, and the ability to keep going when things felt unfamiliar.
